AuditBoard pricing and AuditBoard cost: what AuditBoard (now Optro) charges a year, and why its two price records disagree

AuditBoard, sold as Optro since March 2026, publishes no price. Recorded contracts put the median at $45,138 a year, with deals from $26,205 to $123,222, and implementation is billed on top. The number that decides your cost is how many of its ten solutions you license, because stakeholder seats are free and the bill follows modules and the audit team, not headcount.

What buyers actually sign

AuditBoard cost per year: one product, two contract records that no longer agree

Since AuditBoard publishes nothing, the only real numbers are the ones buyers report after signing, and Vendr holds the largest set. What almost nobody has noticed is that Vendr now carries two pages for this one product: the original AuditBoard page and a newer Optro page created after the rebrand. We read both on 18 September 2026.

Record Median contract a year Recorded range Average off first quote
Optro page (current) $45,138 $26,205 to $123,222 Not published
AuditBoard page (legacy, 86 purchases) $45,947 $21,220 to $111,208 16.33%

The medians sit within two percent of each other, so the headline answer is stable: plan on roughly $45,000 a year for a typical AuditBoard deal. The edges are where the records diverge. The floor on the current page is about $5,000 higher and the ceiling about $12,000 higher. Either the smallest single-module deals have dropped out of the newer sample, or the entry purchase has become more expensive since the rebrand. The data does not say which, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing.

That matters for one practical reason. Most of the articles ranking for AuditBoard pricing quote the legacy record, including its $21,220 floor. If your budget was built from one of them, the realistic starting point is now closer to $26,000, and a range floor describes somebody's scope rather than an entry price in any case. The 16.33 percent average discount exists only on the legacy page, so treat it as a reference point from before March 2026, not a promise about today's sales team.

§ 03

How the quote is built

AuditBoard pricing is set by solutions and power users, because stakeholders are free

optro.ai/pricing, read on 18 September 2026, shows no tiers and no figures, but it does say two things that explain the shape of every quote. The first is the list of what you can buy: ten named solutions. The second is a commercial promise of unlimited stakeholder licenses.

Audit and SOX

Controls Management, Autonomous Testing and OpsAudit. This is the SOXHUB heritage and the reason most buyers shortlist it: walkthroughs, test procedures, sampling, evidence and reviewer sign-off.

Risk

RiskOversight, Cyber Risk Management, Third-Party Risk Management and Business Continuity Management. Each is a separate line, and each grows the renewal baseline once switched on.

Compliance and AI

CrossComply for security frameworks, RegComply for regulatory compliance, and AI Governance. These are where AuditBoard competes with Vanta, Drata and OneTrust rather than with Workiva.

Unlimited stakeholder licenses is the detail worth reading slowly. In a SOX program most of the people touching the system are control owners in finance and IT who upload evidence and answer requests a few times a quarter. If they are free, then headcount stops mattering, and the two things that do move the bill are the number of solutions and the number of internal auditors and compliance staff who work in the tool all day. That is a better model for a large company than per-employee pricing, which is how most policy and security compliance tools meter.

The trap sits in the modules. Buying Controls Management alone lands near the bottom of the range. Add Third-Party Risk and RegComply because a bundle discount made them cheap this quarter, and they stay in your renewal at full weight. Ask for every solution priced on its own line, write down which ones you will actually configure in year one, and decline the rest until you are ready to use them.

§ 04

Why there is no rate card

AuditBoard has no public price anywhere, and we checked the three places one usually hides

Where we looked What is there
auditboard.com/pricing A 301 redirect to optro.ai/pricing
optro.ai/pricing Solution list, unlimited stakeholder licenses, a request form. No figures.
AWS Marketplace No AuditBoard or Optro listing
Azure Marketplace An Entra ID single sign-on connector that needs an existing subscription. No price.

The marketplace check is the one that usually pays off. Vendors who sell through AWS Marketplace have to publish priced contract dimensions, because the buyer is billed through AWS rather than through a sales order. That is how Vanta's ten priced lines, Drata's $25,000 platform fee plus $7,500 per framework, and Sprinto's $7,500 platform plus $2,000 framework all became public. Even Workiva lists there, at a single $1,000,000 dimension that works as a do-not-click placeholder.

AuditBoard does not list at all. The practical consequence is that there is no published anchor for a salesperson to justify moving away from. In a demo-first process the first number spoken becomes the anchor, so bring yours: the $45,138 median, the scope you want priced, and a named alternative you have actually seen.

§ 05

Against the alternatives

AuditBoard price compared with Workiva, Hyperproof, Drata, Diligent and FloQast

Platform Median contract a year Average off first quote Best fit
AuditBoard (Optro) $45,138 16.33% (legacy record) Internal audit and SOX fieldwork teams
Workiva $49,420 11.44% SEC reporting, 10-K and XBRL owners
Hyperproof $41,400 21.15% Multi-framework control programs
Diligent $25,335 7.67% Boards and audit committees
Drata $25,000 23.22% SOC 2 and ISO 27001 for tech companies
FloQast $24,481 23% Close management with a light SOX layer

Two readings matter. First, AuditBoard and Workiva cost about the same at the median, so the choice between them is organizational rather than financial: whichever team has the tool open most hours of the week should choose, because the other team keeps its spreadsheets. Our AuditBoard vs Workiva comparison walks through that split in detail. Second, the discount column tracks how replaceable each product is. Diligent concedes 7.67 percent because board portals have no drop-in substitute; Drata concedes 23 percent because several platforms do the same SOC 2 job. AuditBoard sits in the middle, which says you have leverage, but only if a credible alternative is actually on the table.

The cheaper rows are cheaper because they do less of the audit job, not because they are a better deal. A pre-IPO company that needs its first year of SOX testing organized may be fine on a close tool plus a controls register. A company with a real internal audit function usually is not.

§ 06

Beyond the subscription

What the AuditBoard quote leaves out

Implementation

Scoped and billed separately, and not inside any of the contract figures above. In this tier it commonly adds 20 to 40 percent of first-year license. Loading an existing risk and control matrix is most of the work.

Module creep

A solution added at a discount to close a quarter renews at full weight. Year-two cost is set by what you accept in year one, so model every module at list.

Regulatory watch

AuditBoard runs your audit program. Tracking what the SEC, PCAOB, FinCEN and state regulators publish, and mapping it to your controls, is usually still a person reading feeds.

That last line is where we fit, and it is worth being plain about. Complianceofficer is not an AuditBoard replacement for a team running SOX fieldwork. It watches the regulators, tells you which changes touch your obligations, flags the policy gaps, and keeps an audit trail of every decision, starting at $149 a month. It runs beside AuditBoard rather than replacing it, and for a smaller team whose real need is staying on top of rule changes it covers that need at a small fraction of the cost. The full plan list is on the pricing page.

Questions buyers ask

How much does AuditBoard cost per year?

$45,138 a year at the median on Vendr's current Optro record, read 18 September 2026, with deals from $26,205 to $123,222. The older AuditBoard record shows $45,947 across 86 purchases. Implementation is billed separately and sits outside both figures.

Does AuditBoard publish its pricing?

No. auditboard.com/pricing redirects to optro.ai/pricing, which lists solutions and a request form but no figures. There is no AWS Marketplace listing, and the Azure entry is only a single sign-on connector for existing customers.

What is AuditBoard called now?

Optro. The rebrand was announced on 9 March 2026 at the IIA's Great Audit Minds conference in Las Vegas. The products and the commercial model carried over, and auditboard.com now redirects to optro.ai.

What drives the AuditBoard price?

The number of solutions licensed and the number of power users. Stakeholder licenses are unlimited, so control owners who only answer requests are free, and the bill follows modules and the audit and compliance team rather than company headcount.

Is AuditBoard cheaper than Workiva?

Slightly: $45,138 against $49,420 at the median, a gap smaller than the spread inside either vendor. Choose on which team lives in the tool, audit fieldwork or financial reporting, then negotiate. The Workiva pricing breakdown has the other side.

How much can you negotiate off AuditBoard?

The last published average was 16.33 percent off the first quote, on the legacy record. Scope is the stronger lever: price each module on its own line and decline the ones you will not configure in year one, because they renew at full weight.

Is AuditBoard on AWS Marketplace?

No. Neither AuditBoard nor Optro has a listing. Vendors that list there must publish prices, which is how several competitors' rate cards became public, so recorded contract data is the only public AuditBoard price.

Is there a cheaper alternative to AuditBoard?

For a full internal audit function, not by much: Workiva and Hyperproof sit in the same band. If the real need is keeping up with regulatory change and proving you did, a dedicated monitor from $149 a month covers it. Our AuditBoard alternatives page compares both paths.
