Pricing · published rate card and contract terms

Diligent pricing and Diligent Boards pricing, the rate card Diligent publishes, what buyers actually pay, and the renewal terms behind both

Diligent does publish prices, just not on its own website. Its AWS Marketplace listings price the board portal at $48,500, $84,500 and $155,500 a year, BoardEffect at $8,550 and $10,250, and Diligent Community from $2,750. Recorded contracts put the median buyer at $26,250 a year with only 7.67 percent off the first quote, and the contract renews itself every year unless you give 30 days written notice.

The rate card Diligent publishes

Diligent pricing by product, eight AWS Marketplace listings and 18 priced packages

Vendors that sell through AWS Marketplace have to put a price on every contract dimension, because the buyer pays on an AWS bill instead of a Diligent invoice. We read every Diligent listing on 22 September 2026. Each price below is the listed cost for 12 months. A ninth listing, for Diligent ESG, returned no price table.

Diligent product Entry package Middle package Top package
Diligent Community (public boards) $2,750 Essentials $5,000 Package None listed
BoardEffect (nonprofit boards) $8,550 Pro $10,250 Plus None listed
Board and Leadership Collaboration (Diligent Boards) $48,500 Essentials $84,500 Pro $155,500 Pro Plus
Audit Management $53,600 Essentials $83,600 Pro $113,600 Pro Plus
Internal Controls Management $53,600 Essentials $83,600 Pro None listed
IT Vendor Risk Management $57,600 Essentials $77,600 Pro None listed
IT Compliance Management $68,600 Essentials $108,600 Pro None listed
Enterprise Risk Management $97,000 Essentials $110,000 Pro None listed

Two things stand out. First, the governance, risk and audit modules are priced as separate products, each starting above $50,000, so a buyer adding audit and controls to a board portal is looking at three contracts' worth of list price, not an add-on. Second, the gap between Diligent's own board products is enormous: the nonprofit portal lists at about a sixth of the corporate one. Every listing states the same refund policy in two words: "No Refunds".

§ 03

What buyers actually sign

Diligent costs $26,250 a year at the median, and nobody in the record paid the top list price

Measure Vendr record, read 22 September 2026
Median contract a year $26,250
Recorded range $5,550 to $48,263
Average off the first quote 7.67%

Put the two sources side by side and something odd appears. The highest contract in Vendr's record, $48,263, sits just below the cheapest listed package of Diligent's corporate board portal, $48,500. The median, $26,250, falls between BoardEffect and Diligent Boards and matches neither.

There are two honest readings, and they are not exclusive. One: the recorded deals skew toward smaller Diligent products, BoardEffect, Community, or a single module, so the median describes a mix rather than any one product. Two: the marketplace packages are a ceiling, and private offers for Diligent Boards routinely land below $48,500. Either way, the practical advice is the same. Do not budget for Diligent Boards from the $26,250 median, and do not accept $48,500 as the floor. Ask which package your quote corresponds to, then ask for the price of the package below it.

The 7.67 percent average discount is the thinnest we track across governance and compliance software. Once directors have learned one portal, replacing it is a board-level disruption, and the vendor knows it. Your leverage is before signature, not at renewal.

§ 04

Diligent Boards pricing

Diligent Boards pricing depends on which of three board products you are sold

Diligent Boards

$48,500 to $155,500

The corporate board portal, listed as Board and Leadership Collaboration. Built for public companies and large private boards with committees, subsidiaries and a corporate secretary running the book.

BoardEffect

$8,550 to $10,250

Diligent's portal for nonprofit, healthcare and higher education boards. Same vendor, same contract terms, about a sixth of the corporate list price.

Diligent Community

$2,750 to $5,000

Agenda and meeting software for public and elected boards: city councils, school boards, county commissions, with public transparency built in.

If you are a nonprofit hospital, a credit union or a foundation, ask by name about BoardEffect before you take a Diligent Boards demo. Sales conversations tend to start with the flagship, and the difference between the two entry packages is roughly $40,000 a year. A public company board with committees, insider access controls and D&O questionnaires will genuinely need the corporate product, and should expect its quote to start near the Essentials line.

§ 05

The terms behind the price

Seven Diligent contract terms that decide your second-year bill

Every line below comes from the General Terms and Conditions Diligent hosts for Diligent Corporation. The order form overrides them where it says something different, which makes this the list of defaults to negotiate away from.

Term What the terms say What to ask for
Length One year if the order form names no Initial Term A one-year first term unless the multi-year discount is in writing
Renewal Renews automatically for one-year terms A calendar reminder 90 days out, not 30
Opting out Written notice of non-renewal no later than 30 days before the term ends 60 days, so it lines up with the price notice
Price increases Diligent may set new renewal pricing with 60 days written notice A written cap on the renewal increase
Reducing seats A reduction must be agreed in writing by both parties 30 days before renewal, or it renews at the same quantity A unilateral right to reduce at renewal
Payment Annually in advance, net 30, 1.5% a month on late amounts, access can be suspended 30 days overdue after 10 days notice Invoice timing that matches your fiscal year
Refunds Money paid or owed is non-refundable on cancellation, expiry or termination Nothing to gain here, so get scope right before signing

The seat-reduction line is the one buyers miss. Most SaaS contracts let you drop licences at renewal by telling the vendor. Diligent's default needs both parties to agree in writing, and if you do not have that agreement 30 days before the anniversary, the contract renews at last year's quantity. Your only unilateral lever is to decline renewal of the whole contract. Directors leave boards every year, so write the reduction right into the order form. Diligent also invoices about 30 days before the anniversary, which is the same day your non-renewal deadline passes.

§ 06

Diligent against the market

Diligent price compared with Workiva, AuditBoard, Hyperproof, Vanta and Drata

Medians are recorded contracts, so they compare fairly with each other. The entry list price column is the lowest published package where one exists, and is not comparable to a median.

Platform Median contract a year Average off first quote Lowest published package
Vanta $20,000 29.83% $14,000 Essentials, 1 to 20 employees
Drata $25,000 23.22% $15,000 Foundation, 1 to 50 FTE
Diligent $26,250 7.67% $2,750 Community; $48,500 Boards
Hyperproof $41,400 21.15% None published
AuditBoard (Optro) $45,516 Not reported None published
Workiva $49,420 11.44% $1,000,000 placeholder on AWS

Diligent's GRC modules are the comparison most buyers get wrong. Audit Management lists at $53,600 for Essentials, above the recorded median for a full AuditBoard contract at $45,516. IT Compliance Management lists at $68,600, more than three times what the median Vanta buyer pays for SOC 2 automation. Diligent's case for those modules is that they sit in the same system as the board, so risk and audit findings reach directors without a slide deck. That is worth real money to a public company. It is rarely worth $50,000 a module to a team that mainly needs one framework certified.

§ 07

Beyond the portal

What a Diligent quote does not cover

Implementation and travel

Professional services sit on the order form beside the subscription. On-site training is billed at actual cost for travel, lodging and meals, and cancelling a booked session can leave you paying Diligent's non-refundable expenses.

Extra seats

User IDs cannot be shared. Adding an observer, a new committee member or outside counsel beyond the purchased count triggers additional fees.

What goes into the board book

The portal delivers the pack securely. Knowing which new federal and state rules the board needs to hear about this quarter is still somebody's job.

That last job is ours. ComplianceOfficer watches US federal and state regulators, tells you which changes touch your obligations, flags the policies they leave out of date, and keeps an audit trail of every decision, from $149 a month. It produces the regulatory section of a board or audit committee pack, and it works alongside Diligent or any other portal. See the plans on the pricing page, or what the monitor does on the regulatory change management software page.

Questions buyers ask

How much does Diligent cost?

$26,250 a year at the median on Vendr's record, read 22 September 2026, with deals from $5,550 to $48,263. Diligent's own marketplace packages run from $2,750 for Community Essentials to $155,500 for the top board portal package.

How much does Diligent Boards cost?

The corporate board portal lists at $48,500 (Essentials), $84,500 (Pro) and $155,500 (Pro Plus) a year. BoardEffect, Diligent's nonprofit board product, lists at $8,550 and $10,250.

Does Diligent publish its pricing?

Not on diligent.com, where pricing is a request form. It does on AWS Marketplace, where every contract package needs a listed price. Eight of its nine listings carried one on 22 September 2026.

Does a Diligent contract auto-renew?

Yes, for one-year terms, unless you give written notice at least 30 days before the end. Diligent can raise the renewal price with 60 days notice, and seat reductions need both parties to agree in writing.

Is Diligent charged per user?

Seats matter. You are restricted to the Users you bought, User IDs cannot be shared, and exceeding the count adds fees. A seat can be moved permanently from a departing user to a new one without a new subscription fee.

How much can you negotiate off Diligent?

About 7.67 percent off the first quote on average, the thinnest discount we track. Scope is the bigger lever: the right product (BoardEffect or Boards), the right package, and a written right to reduce seats.

What are the main Diligent competitors?

For GRC, Workiva, AuditBoard (now Optro), Hyperproof and LogicGate. Our compliance software pricing comparison lines up recorded contracts for each.

Can you cancel Diligent and get a refund?

Not for convenience. Fees paid or owed are non-refundable, and the marketplace listings say "No Refunds". Pro-rata refunds exist only in narrow cases: a warranty defect Diligent cannot fix, an infringement claim, or termination for Diligent's own breach.
