The short answer: Vanta is the cheaper contract for a typical buyer and Hyperproof is the one built to carry many frameworks at once. Recorded contracts read on 24 September 2026 put the median Vanta deal at $20,000 a year and the median Hyperproof deal at $41,400. The two bills also grow for different reasons: Vanta prices by employee band plus paid modules, while Hyperproof's own contract meters programs and modules, counted every month. The full Hyperproof pricing breakdown, with the contract terms that set the renewal, is on its own page, and the wider field is compared on Vanta competitors.
So the honest comparison is not "which is cheaper" but "which unit will grow faster at your company". A fast-hiring startup with one or two frameworks and a stable GRC team with five frameworks and a flat headcount should reach opposite answers. The rest of this piece gives the numbers behind that, each with where it came from.
Is Hyperproof cheaper than Vanta?
No, not on recorded contracts. The median Hyperproof contract is roughly double the median Vanta contract, and Hyperproof's lowest recorded deal ($22,215) sits above Vanta's median. The gap reflects who buys each one: Vanta's dataset is full of startups buying a first SOC 2, while Hyperproof's is mid-market and enterprise teams running several frameworks with a risk register on top.
| Measure (Vendr, read 24 Sep 2026) | Hyperproof | Vanta |
|---|---|---|
| Median contract a year | $41,400 | $20,000 |
| Recorded range | $22,215 to $70,000 | $7,500 to $57,221 |
| Average saving off the first quote | 21% | 30% |
| Published list prices | None anywhere | Yes, on AWS Marketplace |
| What the bill is metered on | Programs and modules, counted monthly | Employee band, package tier and modules |
Two cautions on reading that table. First, Vanta's $7,500 floor matches the exact list price of its single AWS FTR module, so the cheapest Vanta deals are most likely one module rather than the platform. Never budget from a range floor. Second, the 30% average saving on Vanta is the widest discount in our whole contract dataset, which tells you Vanta quotes start high and move. Hyperproof's 21% is still real room, just less of it.
How much does Vanta cost per year?
Vanta's own pricing page shows four tiers and no dollar figures, but Vanta sells through AWS Marketplace, and marketplace listings must carry a price for every contract line. Read from that listing on 24 September 2026, the 12-month prices are:
| Vanta contract line | What it covers | Price for 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials Package | Starting cost for 1 to 20 employees | $14,000 |
| Plus Package | Starting cost for 1 to 20 employees | $21,500 |
| Professional Package | Starting cost for 1 to 20 employees | $23,000 |
| Third Party Risk Management | Up to 50 vendors a year | $13,600 |
| Questionnaire Automation | 144 questionnaires a year | $10,000 |
| Questionnaire Automation Advanced | 288 questionnaires a year | $16,000 |
| Trust Center / Trust Center Advanced | 1 to 20 employees | $6,000 / $10,000 |
| Customer Trust Management | Trust Center Advanced plus Questionnaire Automation Advanced | $22,250 |
| AWS FTR Module | AWS Foundational Technical Review | $7,500 |
Read the phrase "starting cost for 1 to 20 employees" carefully. Every package price on that card is the bottom headcount band, so a 120-person company is quoted in a higher band that the listing does not show. Also notice how much the modules cost next to the platform: third-party risk alone is $13,600 against $14,000 for Essentials. Add two modules to a mid-tier package and the contract roughly doubles. We break the card down line by line on our Vanta pricing page.
How much does Hyperproof cost?
Hyperproof publishes no price in any channel we could find. Its pricing URL now redirects to a product page, it has no AWS Marketplace listing, and its Microsoft Marketplace entry is a contact-me trial with no prices. The "starts at $12,000" figure repeated on review sites cites no source, so we do not use it. The best evidence is the recorded contract median of $41,400 a year.
What Hyperproof does publish is its Main Subscription Agreement, and that document tells you how the bill is built, which matters more than any single number. The full clause-by-clause read is on our Hyperproof pricing page. The short version for a buyer comparing it with Vanta:
- The unit is the program and the module. The agreement's true-up clause says the Program and Module count is determined monthly. In Hyperproof a program is where you run a framework, such as a SOC 2 program or an ISO 27001 program.
- Growth is billed as it happens. If you run more programs than you bought, you get 30 days to reduce, after which the overage is invoiced prorated.
- Quantities only go up during the term. Fees are fixed for the term, orders are non-cancelable and non-refundable, and purchased quantities cannot be decreased.
- Renewal follows the order form. The order form states whether it auto-renews; if it is silent, the subscription expires.
Hyperproof vs Vanta pricing for multi-framework programs
This is where the two diverge in practice. On Hyperproof, each framework you run is a program, so adding HIPAA next to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 adds to a count your contract meters monthly. The offset is that Hyperproof is built around evidence reuse: its own comparison page claims 140+ framework templates and control crosswalks based on the Secure Controls Framework, so one tested control can satisfy several programs. On Vanta, the listing prices packages, bands and modules rather than frameworks, and it does not state how many frameworks each package includes. Ask for that in writing before you compare quotes, because it is the line that decides your year-two bill.
| Your situation | What grows your bill on Hyperproof | What grows your bill on Vanta | Usually cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Startup, first SOC 2, hiring fast | Little: one program | Headcount band moves up each renewal | Vanta |
| 100 to 300 staff, SOC 2 plus ISO 27001 | Two programs | A higher band plus any modules | Vanta, by a smaller margin |
| Stable headcount, four or more frameworks | Program count, softened by crosswalks | Whatever frameworks your package excludes, plus modules | Quote both; often Hyperproof |
| Enterprise GRC with risk registers and many owners | Programs and modules, not seats | Band, modules, and gaps you fill with other tools | Hyperproof |
The last column is a judgment from the structure of each contract, not a published price, so treat it as a reason to get both quotes rather than a verdict. For a wider view of how framework count drives cost across Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto too, see our Vanta vs Drata comparison and the compliance software pricing comparison.
What is the difference between Hyperproof and Vanta?
Vanta is audit-first: it connects to your cloud, identity and HR systems, runs automated control tests and gets a smaller company through its first SOC 2 or ISO 27001 quickly. Hyperproof is operations-first: it is built for a compliance team that already runs several frameworks and wants shared controls, risk registers and workflow across all of them. Hyperproof's own comparison page claims 200+ evidence connectors against 300+ integrations for Vanta, so neither leaves a mainstream stack uncovered.
One cost both leave outside the bill: the work each framework creates for people outside the compliance team. Vanta's third-party risk module, for example, covers up to 50 vendors a year, and a company with a long list of contractors often finds that most of the vendor work is simply tracking certificates of insurance that expire mid-contract, a job that is easier to run in a dedicated tool than in a GRC module.
How to negotiate either contract
- Vanta: quote the AWS Marketplace line for your package back to the rep and ask where your headcount band starts and ends. A 30% average saving means the first quote is an opening position.
- Vanta: buy modules only when you need them. A module switched on in year one becomes part of the renewal baseline.
- Hyperproof: get the number of programs and modules written into the order form, plus the unit price for one more of each, because the monthly true-up bills at that rate.
- Hyperproof: check the auto-renewal line on the order form. Under the agreement, silence means the subscription expires rather than renews.
- Both: ask for the renewal price cap in writing. Neither vendor publishes one.
Which should you buy?
Pick Vanta if you are under a few hundred people, need one or two frameworks, and speed to a first report matters more than depth. Pick Hyperproof if you already carry three or more frameworks, have a compliance team to run it, and want risk and controls in one place. Get both quotes if you sit between those, and compare them on the unit that will grow, not on year-one totals.
Neither tool tells you when a regulation changes. Both test the controls you have already decided you need. ComplianceOfficer covers the step before that: it watches US federal and state regulators, flags which changes touch your obligations, shows which policies they leave out of date, and keeps an audit trail of every decision, from $149 a month. It runs next to Hyperproof or Vanta. Scan your sector above to see which rules apply to you, or see the plans.
