Drata pricing: the published rate card, what Drata costs a year, and the price per framework

Every guide to Drata pricing on the first page of Google opens the same way: Drata does not publish a rate card, so nobody knows. That is wrong, and it has been wrong the whole time. Drata publishes list prices on two public AWS Marketplace listings, including a 16-line rate card that puts an exact number on the platform and on each individual framework. Below is what those listings said on 9 September 2026, what buyers actually sign, and the one number on the card that changes which platform you should be shortlisting.

Short answer

Drata costs $25,000 a year at the median, based on 127 recorded purchases in Vendr's contract database read on 9 September 2026, with deals running from $9,494 to $67,350. Drata's own published AWS Marketplace rate card prices a Platform Fee at $25,000 for a 100 FTE organization and charges $7,500 for each compliance framework on top, so a team needing SOC 2 and ISO 27001 is at $40,000 at list. A separate Drata listing offers a Foundation Package for companies of 1 to 50 employees at $15,000 with no separate framework line. Buyers negotiate an average of 23.22 percent off the first quote.

Drata's published rate card, read from AWS Marketplace on 9 September 2026

Vendors who sell through AWS Marketplace have to list contract dimensions with prices attached, because the buyer is transacting against an AWS bill rather than a sales order. That obligation is why these numbers are public at all. The listing titled Drata Security and Compliance Automation Platform carries 16 priced lines on a 12-month contract. These are the ten shown on the first page of that table, exactly as written.

Line item What the listing says it covers 12-month list price
Drata Platform Fee Access to the Drata SaaS platform with capacity for a 100 FTE org $25,000
SOC 2 Framework SOC 2 2017 control set $7,500
ISO 27001 Framework ISO 27001 v2022 control set $7,500
GDPR Framework GDPR control set $7,500
HIPAA Framework HIPAA control set $7,500
PCI DSS Framework PCI DSS control set $7,500
CCPA Framework CCPA control set $7,500
CMMC Framework CMMC control set $7,500
Microsoft SSPA Framework Microsoft SSPA control set $7,500
NIST CSF Framework NIST CSF control set $7,500

The listing's own description names six further dimensions beyond those ten: NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27701, FFIEC and DORA as additional frameworks, plus a Trust Center module and a Risk Management module. Their prices sit on the second page of the pricing table and are not quoted here, because we have not read them and will not guess at them. What the description does state plainly is the structure: you start with the Platform Fee, then add the frameworks and modules you need, each as its own billed unit.

A second Drata listing prices a single dimension: a Foundation Package for 1 to 50 FTE companies at $15,000 for 12 months. That listing has no separate framework line at all and describes control mapping across frameworks as included. So the two public listings describe two genuinely different commercial shapes, and which one you are quoted from matters more than anything you will say in the negotiation.

Four things the rate card tells you that the roundups get wrong

1. The per-framework price is $7,500, not a range

The published guides that do attempt this number put the per-framework add-on somewhere between $3,000 and $10,000 and leave you to pick. The listing says $7,500, and says it nine times in a row for nine different frameworks. It is a flat rate, not a sliding one, and there is no visible volume break for taking several at once. That is a real answer you can put in a budget.

2. The median contract is exactly the list Platform Fee

Vendr's median recorded Drata contract is $25,000. Drata's list Platform Fee for a 100 FTE organization is $25,000. Those two numbers being identical is unlikely to be coincidence, and the useful reading is that the typical deal lands at the base platform price with the framework lines discounted or bundled away. If your quote prices the platform above $25,000 without your headcount exceeding 100, ask what is carrying the difference.

3. Frameworks, not headcount, are what make Drata expensive

One framework at 100 FTE is $32,500 at list. Three frameworks at the same headcount is $47,500, a 46 percent increase with not one extra employee hired. Almost every published comparison of these platforms sorts them by company size, which is the wrong axis. Sort by how many frameworks you will carry in three years, because that is the line that actually moves.

4. The published terms are non-cancellable and non-refundable

The refund policy on the marketplace listing reads that all orders are non-cancellable and all fees and other amounts paid under the agreement are non-refundable. A direct order form may be negotiated differently, but that is the published starting position. Treat a 12-month commitment as a genuine 12 months of spend, and do the framework arithmetic before signing rather than after.

Drata against the platforms it competes with, at published list prices

Vanta, Secureframe and Sprinto all publish rate cards in the same place, which makes a genuine like-for-like comparison possible for the first time. The catch is that the headcount scopes differ, so read the scope column before the price column. Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto all price their platform line at a 100-employee scope. Vanta's packages are quoted at 1 to 20 employees, so its numbers are not directly comparable at the same size and will be higher for a 100-person company.

Platform Platform line, and its scope First framework List total, one framework Vendr median contract
Drata $25,000, capacity for a 100 FTE org $7,500 $32,500 $25,000
Secureframe $7,500, up to 100 employees $7,500 $15,000 $20,000
Sprinto $7,500, up to 100 employees $2,000 $9,500 $15,000
Drata Foundation listing $15,000, 1 to 50 FTE, no separate framework line Included $15,000 Same $25,000 median
Vanta $14,000 Essentials, 1 to 20 employees Included in package $14,000 at 1 to 20 $20,000

The column that should stop you is the third one. A second framework costs $7,500 at Drata and $2,000 at Sprinto, and that 3.75-fold difference on an identical purchase is not mentioned in any comparison of these products we can find. It means the correct shortlist for a company that will only ever carry SOC 2 is a different shortlist from the one for a company heading toward SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA. At three frameworks the list gap between Drata and Sprinto opens to roughly $34,000 a year.

It also explains something that looked odd in the contract data. Sprinto's recorded deal range is unusually narrow, roughly $13,167 to $16,000, where the other platforms span four to eight times from floor to ceiling. A $7,500 platform plus frameworks at $2,000 each lands almost every buyer inside a few thousand dollars of $15,000, whatever their framework count. The narrow band is the pricing model showing through, not a sign that Sprinto refuses to negotiate.

What buyers actually pay, and how far the quote moves

Vendr's marketplace page for Drata, read on 9 September 2026, records 127 purchases with a median of $25,000 a year, a recorded range of $9,494 to $67,350, and an average saving of 23.22 percent off the first quote. Set against the neighbours on the same day: Vanta discounts 29.83 percent, Hyperproof about 21 percent, LogicGate 19 percent, Workiva about 11 percent and Diligent under 8 percent.

Read that ordering as a substitution map rather than a generosity ranking. Thin discounts cluster where nothing else does the job: there is no drop-in replacement for a board portal or for assembling a 10-K. Wide discounts cluster where four products do the same work, which is exactly the position Drata is in. Its 23.22 percent is available to you only if the vendor believes the deal might go to Vanta, Secureframe or Sprinto, and running that evaluation properly costs you an afternoon.

The recorded floor is worth a caution. At $9,494 it sits below the $15,000 Foundation list price, which tells you the cheapest contracts in the dataset are small, discounted or partial-scope purchases rather than a standard entry price. A range floor describes somebody's scope, not your negotiating skill, so do not budget from it.

Get these five things in writing before you sign

None of them is the rate, because the rate is the part the vendor expects to argue about and the rest is where the money quietly goes.

First, the price of your likely second and third framework, quoted now rather than at renewal. Second, which listing or SKU your quote is built from, since the Foundation shape and the Platform-plus-frameworks shape produce very different bills for a 50-person company. Third, what happens when you cross the 100 FTE capacity line, and where the next band starts. Fourth, a renewal uplift cap as a fixed percentage. Fifth, the module list broken out line by line rather than as a bundle total, because a module switched on cheaply in year one stays in the renewal baseline permanently.

Two costs sit outside the subscription entirely and surprise people every year. Implementation and configuration services commonly run 30 to 100 percent of the first-year licence across this category, and the audit itself is never included: a SOC 2 report must be issued by a licensed CPA firm and an ISO 27001 certificate by an accredited certification body, each a separate engagement you pay for separately.

The job Drata's price does not cover

Everything above buys continuous testing of controls you have already written down, against frameworks you have already chosen. Drata does that well and the evidence automation is genuinely good. It is also a closed loop. The platform watches your systems, not the regulators, so when the rule behind a control changes, nothing tells you. The control still passes its test, because it is being tested faithfully against last year's requirement.

That gap is why regulatory change monitoring is bought and priced separately from framework automation, and it is the job we built Complianceofficer to do: watch the rulebooks sitting behind your controls, across SOX and PCAOB guidance, BSA and AML, sanctions, privacy and the security frameworks, and say in plain language when one of them moves and which of your policies it touches. Next to a SOC 2 platform the two sit side by side rather than competing. Our pricing is published on the pricing page at $149 a month or $894 a year with no quote process, and the compliance scan above is the part you can check today.

If you are comparing rather than budgeting, the Drata alternatives comparison covers what each rival is genuinely better at, the Vanta pricing rate card gives the same treatment to the other half of the two-horse race, and Vanta vs Drata pricing puts them head to head. For the framework itself rather than the tooling, see SOC 2 compliance software.

Questions buyers ask before signing

How much does Drata cost per year?

$25,000 a year at the median, across 127 recorded purchases in Vendr's contract data read on 9 September 2026, with deals from $9,494 to $67,350. Drata's own published list prices are a $25,000 Platform Fee for a 100 FTE organization plus $7,500 per framework, and a separate Foundation Package at $15,000 for companies of 1 to 50 employees.

Does Drata publish its pricing?

Not on drata.com, but yes on AWS Marketplace, where two public listings carry list prices. One shows a 16-line rate card led by the $25,000 Platform Fee with each framework priced separately. The other shows a single $15,000 Foundation Package for 1 to 50 FTE companies. Both are 12-month contract prices, read 9 September 2026.

How much does Drata charge per framework?

$7,500 each, flat, on the published card. SOC 2, GDPR, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS, CCPA, CMMC, Microsoft SSPA and NIST CSF are all listed at the same $7,500 with no visible break for taking several. Three frameworks at 100 FTE is therefore $47,500 at list, against $32,500 for one.

Is Drata more expensive than Vanta?

At the median, yes, by about $5,000 a year: $25,000 against roughly $20,000. Secureframe also sits near $20,000 and Sprinto lower at about $15,000. The spread is narrow enough that your framework count and headcount band will decide the number, so get two quotes scoped identically before reading much into medians.

How much can you negotiate off Drata?

Vendr records an average 23.22 percent off the first quote across 127 purchases. That sits below Vanta's 29.83 percent and above Workiva's 11 percent, and the ordering tracks substitutability rather than generosity. Drata has three credible substitutes, so a real parallel evaluation is what unlocks the discount.

Does the Drata price include the audit?

No. The subscription buys readiness, continuous control testing and evidence packaging. The SOC 2 report itself must be issued by a licensed CPA firm and an ISO 27001 certificate by an accredited certification body, each a separate paid engagement. Penetration testing, where required, is separate again.

Can you cancel a Drata contract?

The refund policy published on the marketplace listing, read 9 September 2026, states that all orders are non-cancellable and all fees paid under the agreement are non-refundable. A directly negotiated order form may differ, but that is the published position, so treat the annual commitment as fully committed spend.

Why did my Drata renewal go up?

Two usual causes. You added a framework, which is a separately priced line that stays in the baseline permanently once it is on. Or you grew through the 100 FTE capacity the Platform Fee is sized for, which is a pricing event even though nothing about your compliance program changed. Both are avoidable at signature.
