Apptega pricing and Apptega cost from its own monthly rate card, priced against seven rivals

Run the free scan

Apptega prints no price on its own website, but its AWS Marketplace listing does. Starter is $590 a month, Advanced $980 and Premium $1,240, each for organizations of up to 200 employees, which is $7,080 to $14,880 a year before multi-year discounts. Add-ons run $100 a month each. No other platform in this market publishes a card that reaches 200 people.

The published rate card

Apptega cost on AWS Marketplace, line by line

Vendors that sell through AWS Marketplace have to price every option they list, because the buyer pays through an AWS bill instead of a sales order. Apptega's listing is sold by Apptega itself and has seven monthly lines. We annualized them at the monthly rate so they line up with the yearly cards its rivals publish.

Line Who can buy it Per month Per year at list
30 Day Free TrialAnyone, data carries into a paid plan$0$0
StarterUp to 200 employees$590$7,080
AdvancedUp to 200 employees$980$11,760
PremiumUp to 200 employees$1,240$14,880
Audit Manager add-onStarter or Advanced$100$1,200
Vendor Manager add-onAdvanced only$100$1,200
API and Connectors add-onAdvanced only$100$1,200

AWS says "up to", so the discount on any given line can be smaller. The listing also says pricing for organizations over 200 employees is available on request, which means the card stops exactly where a fast-growing company starts to need it. If you are at 170 people and hiring, price the year-two band now.

§ 03

Two sets of names

Apptega plans on the website do not match the packages on AWS

The website sells Essentials, Plus and Premium, with no figures and a "Request pricing" button on the two upper tiers. AWS sells Starter, Advanced and Premium with figures. The framework counts line up, the add-on rules do not.

Item Essentials / Starter Plus / Advanced Premium
Frameworks with assessment135
Framework crosswalkingNoYesYes
Document storage50 GB100 GB300 GB
Gap assessment reports1025Unlimited
Audit managerAdd-onIncluded on site, $100 add-on on AWSIncluded
Third-party riskNoAdd-onIncluded on site, no AWS add-on

Read the last two rows twice. On the website, Plus includes the audit manager. On AWS, Advanced lists the Audit Manager as a paid add-on. Vendor Manager and API and Connectors attach to Advanced only on AWS, while the website puts the third-party risk manager inside Premium. Ask which list your quote is built on, and get the included modules named in the order form.

§ 04 · What a real bill looks like

Three Apptega quotes worked out from the public card

List arithmetic at the monthly rate, before any term discount, for buyers we see most often. Audit fees are always separate and paid to your auditor.

One framework, small company

$8,280 a year

Starter at $590 plus the Audit Manager at $100, for a 60-person company preparing its first NIST CSF or SOC 2 assessment.

Three frameworks and vendors

$12,960 a year

Advanced at $980 plus Vendor Manager at $100. Add the Audit Manager and API and Connectors and it reaches $15,360.

MSP pilot with one client

$1,770 for 3 months

Starter on the 1-month contract, renewed twice. No annual commitment, but no refund after purchase either.

The middle card hides the trap on this card. Advanced with all three add-ons comes to $1,280 a month, which is $40 more than Premium at list. Premium also brings five frameworks instead of three and 300 GB of storage. If you need more than one add-on, price Premium before you accept an Advanced quote. And because a monthly contract is the only one with no term discount, the MSP pilot costs the most per month of any option here. That is the price of being able to walk away.

Honest comparison

Apptega pricing against seven rivals at one, three and five frameworks

Annual list prices from each vendor's own AWS Marketplace card, except ZenGRC, which publishes nowhere and is shown at the directory figure. Watch the employee band column. It changes what the price means.

Platform Band on the card 1 framework 3 frameworks 5 frameworks Better than Apptega when

Drata100 FTE$32,500$47,500$62,500You need deep continuous control monitoring at scale
Vanta1 to 20Packages from $14,000 (Essentials) to $23,000 (Professional)You are a small SaaS company that needs SOC 2 fast
ScrutUp to 20$15,000$15,000$15,000You are under 20 people; its recorded median is $7,250
ZenGRCNot published~$30,000~$30,000~$30,000You carry many frameworks past 200 people under one flat rate
ThoropassBy headcount$8,700 + $5,800 auditQuoteQuoteYou want the platform and the SOC 2 audit from one vendor

Two readings. On list price Apptega is the cheapest card at every framework count, and it is the only one whose card covers a 150-person company without a quote. But list is not what people pay. Recorded medians on Vendr are $15,000 for Sprinto, $20,000 for Vanta and Secureframe, $25,000 for Drata and $7,250 for Scrut, while Apptega has no recorded contracts there at all. The other honest caveat is scope. Apptega's card sells API and Connectors as a $100 add-on on Advanced only, while the SOC 2 automation tools are built around those integrations. If evidence collection is the job, compare that, not the headline. Our Apptega alternatives guide goes rival by rival.

§ 06

The rest of the record

What the public record does not show about Apptega cost

Vendr has an Apptega marketplace page but no recorded contracts on it, so there is no median to negotiate against. There is no UK G-Cloud listing, and a search of USAspending.gov for federal awards to Apptega returned none. TrustRadius still shows a "Basic" cloud plan at $9,950 a year with no setup fee. That plan name no longer appears anywhere Apptega sells, so read it as history, not a quote.

What that leaves is unusual for this market: a public list price and nothing to say how far below it deals close. For Drata, the recorded median equals its platform list. For Scrut, the median is half of list. Apptega's card is the ceiling, and nobody has published where the floor is. Start below the card and make the rep move you up.

Before you sign

How to negotiate an Apptega quote

  1. Name the package list. Have the quote say whether it is built on Essentials, Plus and Premium or on Starter, Advanced and Premium, and name every included module.
  2. Price Premium against Advanced plus add-ons. Past one add-on, Premium is often cheaper and carries two more frameworks.
  3. Pin the headcount rule. Ask who counts toward the 200 line (contractors, part-time staff, subsidiaries) and what year two costs if you cross it.
  4. Settle the trial length. The listing says 30 days in one place and 14 in another. Know which applies, because there is no refund after purchase.
  5. Take the term discount in writing. Apptega confirms multi-year discounts. Ask for the full 11, 17 or 21 percent and a renewal cap.
  6. MSPs, ask for the provider package. Branding and multi-tenancy are sold through sales, not the card.

Where we fit

What ComplianceOfficer does next to Apptega

Apptega runs a security framework program: assessments, crosswalks between frameworks, tasks and reports for the board. It is not built to tell you when a federal or state rule behind your obligations changes. Banks, advisers, broker-dealers, insurers and healthcare companies carry those obligations whether or not they run NIST CSF or CMMC.

ComplianceOfficer keeps a register of the US rules that apply to your company, checks the primary sources every day, explains each change in plain language and drafts the policy update for every gap you mark, with an audit trail you can export. It costs $149 a month for one owner, with no framework count and no employee band. Plenty of teams run both. If you are still choosing a security platform, start with our SOC 2 compliance software comparison or the Vanta alternatives table.

Questions buyers ask

How much does Apptega cost?

Apptega lists three monthly packages on its own AWS Marketplace listing for organizations of up to 200 employees: Starter at $590 a month, Advanced at $980 and Premium at $1,240. That is $7,080, $11,760 and $14,880 a year at the monthly rate. Add-ons cost $100 a month each, and 12, 24 and 36 month contracts save up to 11, 17 and 21 percent.

Does Apptega have a free trial?

Yes. Apptega's website offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card on the Essentials plan. Its AWS Marketplace listing prices a 30 Day Free Trial at $0 that carries your data into a paid subscription, while the refund field on the same listing says 14 days and no refund after purchase. Confirm the length before you start.

Is Apptega cheaper than Vanta?

On list price, yes. Apptega Starter is $7,080 a year and Premium is $14,880, for up to 200 employees. Vanta lists Essentials at $14,000 and Professional at $23,000 for 1 to 20 employees on AWS Marketplace, with a recorded Vendr median of $20,000. Vanta wins on automated evidence collection depth, so compare scope, not only the price line.

Does Apptega charge per framework?

Not as a separate line, but the framework count sets the package. Apptega's website gives Essentials 1 framework with assessment, Plus 3 and Premium 5, and sells additional frameworks as a Premium add-on. So moving from one framework to three costs the step from Starter to Advanced on AWS, which is $390 a month at list.

How much does Apptega cost for more than 200 employees?

Apptega does not publish it. Every priced line on its AWS listing covers organizations of up to 200 employees, and the listing says pricing for organizations over 200 employees is available upon request. Ask how headcount is counted at the 200 line, because contractors and part-time staff can push a company over it.

Does Apptega offer MSP pricing?

Yes. Apptega says it has Service Provider packages for resellers and MSSPs that include branding, multi-tenancy and provider-specific features, priced through sales rather than published. For a single client pilot, the monthly AWS contract at $590 for Starter is the only publicly priced way to test the platform without an annual commitment.
